Our Approach

sshape’s design of JOOLA’s new HQ office prioritizes a dynamic interplay between their vibrant new brand identity and the creation of an engaging space for visitors and athletes, while seamlessly weaving in the rich history of the company and the sport of pickleball. The design draws inspiration from ball trajectories, translating this into layered lighting, expressive flooring, and dramatic ceilings. The retail space, JOOLA’s first storefront, focuses on an immersive brand experience, encouraging exploration beyond sales. The office component, with its C-Suite area and a conference room adorned with a custom tea table, reflects the company’s rich heritage. While designing, there was always a clear vision for the project: seamlessly integrate three distinct program elements – retail, pickleball court, and corporate office – while showcasing their newly rebranded identity and honoring their rich history. Influenced by Chinese cultural traditions, the design incorporated a dedicated tearoom within the C-Suite executive area, reflecting the importance of hospitality and fostering meaningful connections with guests. Despite the geographical distance between the client’s China office and the project site in the United States, a collaborative spirit and consistent communication, including frequent in-person meetings, ensured the successful realization of this complex project.
