Our Approach

Driven by a strategic relocation and the need for an expanded footprint, American Electric Power partnered with sshape to design a new 21,000 RSF office at Market Square. Situated near Capitol Hill, the primary objective was to create a high-end, professional environment tailored for hosting lobbyists, government officials, and key clients. Central to the workplace is an expansive, flexible gathering space designed for high-profile external events. This area features diverse seating arrangements, collaborative huddle zones, a dedicated pantry with a wine fridge, and a catering kitchen. For large-scale functions, a telescoping glass wall effortlessly expands the room. As a leader in the utility sector, AEP's mission is woven throughout the architecture: sweeping, curved light fixtures mimic the energy of power lines, while integrated, cutting-edge technology and digital displays throughout the lobby boldly reinforce their brand identity.
