Our Approach

As a nonprofit that supports other nonprofits by connecting them to donors and companies, GlobalGiving is always focused on helping other organizations grow. So, when it came time to more than double its own downtown DC space from 7,000 to over 16,000 square feet, it turned to sshape for help. GlobalGiving wanted its new home to feel warm and welcoming to staff and visitors alike, as well as to have the capacity to host all-staff meetings, presentations, and events in-house. In the new sshape plan, visitors enter through a warm, inviting lobby into a space that forgoes traditional offices in favor of variously sized team and conference rooms. The flexible space accommodates scheduled and impromptu meetings, collaboration, and focused work. A slat wall finished in GlobalGiving’s branding and colors separate the large conference room and open workspace, while a navy blue finish on the open office bulkhead unites the spaces. To center GlobalGiving’s mission in the design, sshape created a large, custom installation that allows GlobalGiving to mark its new projects across the globe with orange squares on a three-dimensional relief map.
