Locust Street Group (LSG) relocated from a private townhouse to the historic Herald Building in Washington, DC, to support growth and elevate their workplace for staff and clients. Built in 1923 as the Washington Times-Herald’s headquarters—where Jackie O launched her journalism career and first met John F. Kennedy—the building’s legacy inspired the boutique, hospitality-driven design carried throughout LSG’s office and rooftop. The design directly responds to LSG’s dynamic, youthful office culture, incorporating a diverse array of workspace typologies to accommodate multi-generational needs. From quiet areas for heads-down work to open zones for collaboration, the layout balances focus and interaction. From the elevator lobby, guests and staff step into an expansive event lounge with plush seating, a flexible boardroom, and a café. The private rooftop further extends the event capabilities while also serving as a staff lunch area. A hidden speakeasy with a full bar and intimate seating adds exclusivity, and glass-fronted offices maximize natural light and views throughout.
