Our Approach

sshape’s complete redesign of The ALS Association’s 12,000 square foot space in Arlington, Virginia, was not just about modernizing a workplace—it positions the non-profit’s mission front and center, both structurally and visually. Flipping the prior layout, sshape oriented conference rooms and shared workspaces around perimeter windows and used ample interior glass to allow natural light to flow into new interior office spaces.  The finished design exceeds ADA compliance standards to accommodate those living with the disease, some of whom are reflected in a custom photographic wall covering in the break room. sshape’s interior finish work extends the organization’s brand throughout the space with custom graphics, a ceiling element highlighting the Association’s mission statement, and branded elements on conference room glass and space dividers. Construction began in October 2019, and was completed in March 2020.
