Our Approach

United Way appointed sshape to steward their transition into a new 8,600 square foot office space located in Downtown Washington, DC. One of the largest privately funded charities in the world, the community-building nonprofit determined to upgrade their workspace in a bid to energize staff return to the office. United Way’s chief design priority lay in developing a breathable, open-plan space. sshape weaved together workstations and coworking spaces—minimizing private office areas—to free communication, activate opportunities for collaboration, and propagate natural light. Demountable glass walls and natural wood tones frame the breathtaking top-floor views, maximizing the feeling of openness. United Way's vibrant branding came alive through blue, yellow, and orange accents in furniture, walls, and paint, creating a welcoming and impactful environment that reflects their mission.
